My 100th Blog of 100 Things about Me

I saw my sister published her 100th blog list, so I decided I better start it now. I'm on # 25 and it is the first part of January. We will see how long it takes me to get there. Apparently there is a tradition in which bloggers create a list of 100 things for their one hundredth post.

I started writing again in May. This is really hard for me to do. Who knew blogging would be so difficult. Here are 100 things about me:

1. My favorite things to do are listen to Christian music, read non fiction christian author books, and talk to friends.

2. I do not like to be the center of attention and avoid it at all costs. Apparently, blogging 100 things about myself seems ok and does not make me feel like the center of attention.

3. Carol Suderman became my blood sister when I was nine.

4. I was pregnant 4 times before I found out there was a limited time frame in which I could become pregnant.

5. I relax in the bathtub in my bathing suit.

6. I don't drink milk, tea, or coffee. I am addicted to COKE CLASSIC. I drink a six pack almost every day.

7. My sister slept with me till I went away to college. She started when she was one and stopped when she was in the fifth grade. We slept in a king size water bed. I usually had to sleep on the edge because she would sleep with her leg over me. If I moved her to the other side of the bed she would move back over.

8. I hated watching Looney Tunes, the Brady Bunch, and Little House on the Prairie when I was little.

9. Growing up I loved watching the Facts of Life and Charlie's Angels.

10. My favorite radio station is KLOVE because it is positive and encouraging and it has no commercials.

11. I have been with my husband since I was a freshman in high school. I never dated anyone else. I met him when I was 15 and he was 17.

12. I would make my sister, who is nine years younger than I am, pose for pictures and practice singing. My favorite song she sang was about taking a bite out of an apple. My favoirte picture was when she posed in plants with stuffed animals.

13. I had four C-sections.

14. I love any kind of bread, rolls, iced cookies, french bread, crackers, petifores, and white cake with white icing. Unfortunately I can't eat it because I have Celiac Disease.

15. My first cruise was the KLOVE cruise to the Grand Turks. I loved hearing Sonic Flood, New Song, Big Daddy Weave, the Afters, Steven Curtis Chapman, Salvador, and Matthew West.

16. I have lived in McAllen, Pharr, Corpus Christi, Lake Jackson, Waco, Beaumont, and Odessa Texas.

17.I took my oldest and youngest daughter to see Blake Lewis when we heard he was in town. We had a private interview with him for 15 minutes or so. He was friendly and nice. He looked at the American Idol book we brought for him to sign.

18. My whole life I went to the same Baptist church on Sunday morning and night and Wednesday night. In junior high I was in the puppet ministry and sang in the choir. In high school I played in the hand bell choir and sang in youth choir. Since I have been an adult I have taught Sunday School for 9th grade girls, 3 year olds, 2nd grade, and 4th & 5th grade boys. I have led a Search for Significance Class, a high school girls Bible study, and a small group from our church.

19. I sold Lisa the Dodge Daytona that caught on fire at the outlet mall in San Marcos and made the paper. I always thought that car was hot.

20. My sister's birth was the best thing that happened to me as a child. I took her everywhere with me. She couldn't understand why she couldn't go with Russ and me to prom. Thank goodness my friends were understanding, most of the time.

21. My oldest daughter weighed 6 lbs. 2 oz when she was born but weighed 5 lbs. 4 oz. when we brought her home.

22. My paternal grandpa Samuel Benjamin: He picked pecans with me, taught me how to play dominos, brushed my long hair, put Sea Breeze on my cuts, and had coke tea parties with me in miniature tea cups. He chewed Red Man tobacco. He died the month before my grandma. He was 83.

23. My paternal grandma: I loved eating her frozen peaches, homemade biscuits with jelly, and special cookies with icing when I would come home from pre school. She made me feel loved and special. She died when I was 10. It devastated me. I cried every night for 4 years.

24. My maternal grandpa: He held my hand while we walked. He would carry a big cane and I would carry a little one. He would drive me an hour away to let me stay in a hotel. He introduced me to mangos. I would play in the back of his pick up truck for hours. He wore khaki pants and shirt, work boots, and a cowboy hat. He died when I was 14 and he was 66. I didn't cry any more after his funeral.

25. My maternal grandma: She would pack a picnic lunch for us to take on the way to the hotel. We had fried chicken, baby sweet pickles, and boiled eggs. She would make me pancakes in letters and shapes. She told great bed time stories. She is turning 87 this year.

26. My maternal grandparents went on vacations with us, flew kites with me, let me spend the night with them starting when I wasn't even two, and went for walks with me. They played games with me: Scrabble, Old Maid, and Spades.

27. I hate to have anything on my sternum. When Lisa would get mad at me she would touch me there to win the fight.

28. I like doors to be shut at all times.

29. I loved sitting outside in the cool, crisp sunshine at Baylor. It was so peaceful, pretty, and relaxing.

30. I have been to Disney World 7 times. It is my favorite place to go with my family. I like it because I can ride all of the rides with my kids. It seems magical to me and I feel like a kid myself.

31. I met Lisa Whechel from Facts of Life on the KLOVE cruise. Unfortunately, my camera didn't work and I don't have proof of that encounter.

32. I love teaching kids how to read. It thrills me to see a child who doesn't feel confidant in his ability to read realize that he can do it. I love when he chooses to read instead of play. I feel like all my students in my class this year like to read and do a great job at it. That brings me deep satisfaction.

33. I've never ridden in a limo. Not even at a wedding or a funeral. I don't want my first limo ride to be for a funeral.

34. My dog, Toby, reminded me of a skunk because he has a white strip down his black back.

35. When I was little I used to get all my stuffed animals and dolls on the couch with me and pretend we were in a boat. I liked to have things around me.

36. I haven't worn a sleeveless shirt as an adult.

37. I just started wearing open toed shoes a few years ago. I got my first pedicure then, too.

38. I started playing tennis in junior high. I played on the varsity team in high school but I wasn't very good. I took lessons and even went to tennis camp at Trinity in San Antonio. I rode with Kim and Ashley on a plane to get there. I was more than a little nervous. Kim and I were tennis partners.

39. My husband's initials are RLW, mine are SLW, and my kids are TLW. Our dogs were Toby, Tristen, and Tiffany. Corny, but me.

40. In my childhood I collected spoons from places I visited, beanie babies, and Madame Alexander dolls.

41. I still get Madame Alexander dolls for my girls. I get them special ones for things that are going on in their lives. Taylor got a doll on a pony for her 1st birthday because it was a pony 1st birthday party, Dorothy from Wizard of Oz when she was six because that was her dance recital, and a doll dressed up in dress up clothes because that was what she did for her 4th birthday. Tatum got a doll with a bear because she had a build a bear party, a Mouseketeer because we had gone to Disney World that year, and the tooth fairy when she lost her first tooth.

42. My first job was babysitting. I watched my cousin's kids often. I loved Jonathan, Kimberly, and Brian. My friend Ashley and I had a lawn care business for a summer. I rode the riding lawn mower and she edged. The summer before my senior year I worked at a Baptist church watching kids. I drove them in a van to swim lessons. I was 17. The next summer they closed the school so I kept several of them in my home. I paid someone to watch them while I took summer college classes before I started Baylor.

43. When my sister was little I would make her ask sales people questions because I was too shy and embarrassed. I still don't like to ask for things.

44. Fried shrimp is my favorite food. Petifores are my favorite treat. Unfortunately, I can't eat them anymore.

45. I like to be cold, although now that my hands turn blue I tend to have to wear gloves. It is a good thing I don't mind looking like a dork and have accepted that is who I am.

46. I hate to be hot. I will go to any length to avoid it. My students have to bring jackets to class because the temperature doesn't get above 70 in my classroom.

47. I get 6 e-mail devotionals: James Robison's lifetoday.org., Proverb's 31 Woman's http://www.proverbs31.org/., Rick Warren's http://www.purposedrivenlife.com/, Joni Eareckson Tada's http://www.joniandfriends.org/. , KLOVE's http://www.klove.com/ and Max Lacado's http://www.maxlucado.com/. 49. I don't like onions raw or cooked.

60. This summer I am going to a conference in Atlanta to see Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer, and Kay Arthur with six of my friends from school.

61. The only "sport" I was good at in elementary school was 4 square. I played tether ball, volleyball, and kick ball.

62. My friend, Susan, and I threw the football often when I was in elementary school. I enjoyed it even though I'm not sure how good I was at throwing or catching the ball.

63.I thought I was blind as a bat without my contacts until I learned Lisa has worse vision than I do. That is scary because I am legally blind without contacts.

64. I had a miscarriage at 13 weeks with my first pregnancy.

65. I hate to say ice breakers in groups. They make me very uncomfortable. I hate to be put on the spot.

74. My family got an Australian Shepherd. We named him Toby. He was 1 1/2 years old when he was stolen.

75. I became a Christian in first grade. I didn't get baptized until I was 9 because I thought that I would literally die when I went under the water. I finally decided to do it because I knew I given Him my life anyway. I was shocked and relived when I came out of the water still breathing.

76. We ate our pet rabbits Snowflake and Carmel for dinner when I was little. Needless to say, I still have issues because of this. I still remember my dad killing and then preparing them.

77. My grandparents used to get us colored chicks for Easter when I was little.

78. When I was 2 I would sit in a dainty white chair on my grandparent's front porch and watch the cars go by. As an adult, I found out that it was really a potty chair.

I'm glad you did your 100th post!

Just a couple of things...

-I collected spoons, not you. You collected thimbles.
- You need to drink water and limit yourself to 2 cokes a day max!
- I need to teach you how to use my new camera.
- Toby was my dog, not yours.
- Even 9 years your junior, I knew Grandma Brown's name.

Love you!
