Germany

Koln (Cologne)  is the 4th largest city in Germany and located on both sides of the Rhine.  It was founded and established in the first century AD.  It was one of the most heavily bombed cities in Germany during WWII.  It reduced the population by 95% and destroyed almost the entire city.

Roman-Germanic Museum is an archaeological museum.  It has a large collection of Roman artifacts from the Roman settlement of colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium on which Koln is built.  The museum protects the original site of a Roman town villa, from which a large Dionysus mosaic remains in its original place.

Cologne Cathedral is across the Rhine.  It stands 516 feet tall.  It is a monument of German Catholicism and Gothic architecture and is an UNESCO World Heritage Site.  It is Germany's most visited landmark, attracting an average 20,000 people.  Construction started on it in 1248, but was halted in 1473 because the money was spent on religious wars.  It didn't restart again to the 19th century and was completed in 1880.
