100 Years Old

My mom made Grandma 100 links to her birthday.  Each week, she gave her a basket with a gift to open each day-something to wear, drink, eat, do, play, etc...
Grandma was born on the 6th, but when she was 7, she decided her birthday was on the 7th because that is when they.celebrated with a party.  She refused to celebrate on any day but the 7th since then.   When she was an adult, she had to get a birth certificate and put the 7th on it.  She never used the 6th again.

Grandma got socks that have a picture of her as a baby in 1921 and as an adult in 2021.

She got a mask that says, "Vintage 1921, special edition."

Grandma's 100th birthday party was at her granddaughter, Lisa's house.

Grandma's youngest grandson, George, came from Oklahoma.

Grandma got letters of congratulations from seven universities:
  • President Linda Livingstone-Baylor University in Waco, Texas.  Baylor University sent a congratulatory letter that looked like a diploma.  I went to Baylor and so does my youngest daughter, Tatum.
  • President Denise Trauth-Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.  Her granddaughter, Lisa and Lisa's husband, Eric, graduated from Texas State.
  • President Stuart Bell-University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  Ruth's great grandson graduated from the University of Alabama in May 2021.
  • President Hartzell-University of Texas at Austin in Austin, Texas.  Her grandson in law, Russell, graduated from UT in Austin.
  • President Guy Bailey-University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg.  Both her daughters graduated from Pan Am with a degree in teaching.
  • West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.

When I was on a Southwest flight coming for the party, I got the  crew to sign a card.

Even though I asked all the living Presidents to send Grandma a card, only President Trump sent one.

Senator Chris Coons from Dover, Delaware and Senator John Hoeven of North Dakota sent cards.  Senator Ted Cruz sent a flag that had flown over the White House.
Grandma got a Bigfoot card from a relative we met on Ancestry DNA who is from Sammamish, Washington (where the story of Bigfoot originally came from).

We got Grandma Smucker's jelly in peach, grape, and strawberry and Jif Peanut Butter.

Looking at her 95th birthday party photo book.
Grandma got certificates from five governors:
Governor Kay Ivey of Alabama,
Governor Laura Kelly of Kansas,
Governor Henry McMaster of South Carolina,
Governor Doug Burgum of North Dakota,
Governor Greg Abbott from Texas,
Governor Jim Justice from West Virginia.

Grandma got a nice certificate from  the Oaks.  She wasn't going to wear the silver 100 crown and sash we got her to the party at the Oaks, but when we got down to the party, they gave her a pink 100 crown  and  sash.

I tried to mail my card from Disneyland in California, but they weren't mailing them because of Covid.  I decided to email Bob Isner and ask him if he could have someone send one.  This is what he sent.  She was absolutely thrilled.  She couldn't believe that Mickey and Minnie sent her a card.  Thank you to Bob Isner  for making Disney Magic happen.

Grandma's great grandkids and great great granddaughter enjoyed the piñata.
Grandma has a little brother and sister who are 11 and 13 years younger than she is.  They weren't able to come, but sent cards with $100 dollar bills in them.  Her mother used to send me dollars for every year of my age for my birthday.  She lived until she was 96.

I can't believe this lady is 100 years old.  She doesn't take any medicine and flew to CA in December.

We had a great time. celebrating my grandma!

The next day we celebrated at the Oaks with her community.
We gave these to all the residents

We got these fortune cookies in Chinatown in San Francisco

It was a wonderful time celebrating my grandma's 100th birthday!
